Living in Colorado

Colorado Springs, Colorado sits at the base of Pikes Peak and the Rocky Mountains. Fairly centrally located within Colorado, even New York is only about 3 1/2 hours away by air, and of course, our ski slopes are much closer. We also sit well above sea level at 6,035 Ft.

We fare quite well on our cost of living having an index of 99.6 compared with the Los Angeles and San Diego areas averaging 127. We in fact are more affordable than Seattle, Phoenix or our own Denver. The Springs has grown significantly over the past few years with an estimated metro area population of 425,000 people. Current economic forecast anticipate an annual county growth of approximately 8,000 to 10,000 people per year through the year 2000.

Boasting the longest runway in Colorado, the Colorado Springs Airport, complete with a new terminal, is only 5 miles from downtown and approximately 60 minutes from Denver. The airport also has many direct flights to places like Chicago, Dallas, Salt Lake City, Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and many more. But our transportation doesn't stop at the airport. Colorado Springs has 27 trucking companies, rail service, bus service and direct access to the Interstate highway system.
